Tyson Fury is gearing up for his highly-anticipated return to boxing. The Gyspy King, who hasn’t fought since 2015, will return to the ring against a currently unnamed opponent at the Manchester Arena on June 9. Boxing fans are eager to see Fury back. He was at the top of the heavyweight division after he defeated Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf three years ago and is still seen as someone who can defeat Anthony Joshua. It’s the fight that everyone wants to see and Fury believes he will win, should the two unbeaten fighters ever meet. “Of course I do or I wouldn’t be sat here today. I’d be off in Spain drinking a sangria somewhere,” Fury said this week when asked if he can beat Joshua. “Of course I think I have the ability, I just think I have too much movement and natural boxing skill to lose to somebody like that. “He’s very tough and strong and he has a lot of learned ability but he doesn’t have the natural gift of the sweet science.” Joshua is a hugely popular fighter but Fury will have the support of many – including, of course, his children. And the 29-year-old has already got his kids to help him send a message to Joshua. Fury posted a video on Instagram Stories of himself and his children out in the sun singing: “Tyson’s on fire, Joshua is terrified!” While Fury and his kids were singing about Joshua, AJ spent his afternoon teaching his kid how to fight. It’s a shame we have no real idea if the British duo will fight. Right now, Joshua and his team are busy negotiating a meeting with WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Meanwhile, Fury will need a few fights before he’s ready to comprehend the idea of taking Joshua on. Both are in their 20s though, and boxing fans will wait, albeit begrudgingly, to see them fight. Just so long as they don’t put it off for too long. Back in January, Fury suggested he would be prepared to fight Joshua in the summer of 2019. “@EddieHearn please stop using my name on a daily basis to build AJ vs Parker, you have had your chance to make me vs AJ & declined many times!,” he tweeted. “I’ve already told you it will be on my terms & the split will be 60/40 my end, see you summer/autumn 2019.” Do YOU want to write for GiveMeSport?
