Tyson Fury NAMED THE NEXT OPPONENT AFTER FIGHT Fransis Ngannou
The WBC world heavyweight champion (over 101.6 kg) Briton Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KO) gave an interview for the popular former British national football team player Rio Ferdinand.
In addition to Fury’s stories about his main and extreme fights, he also named the strong qualities of his future opponent that could promise him defeat. Recall that on October 28 in Saudi Arabia, Tyson will meet with former UFC champion from Cameroon Francis Ngannou. Fury even simulated his loss and told what would happen in such a case.
— Ngannu in Saudi Arabia. Two different sports.
— Yes, different worlds will collide.
— What’s the threat in this guy?
— Threat in height 193 cm and weight 126 kg. blows in each hand. He is recorded in the record books as the strongest puncher who has ever beaten anything. So it’s a risk. Also, the biggest risk of all this is to fight an MMA fighter, being the heavyweight champion of the world. And what happens if he beats me? I will be ridiculed. It will be like Liverpool or Manchester United will fly 0-7 to a club from the second league.
— [laughs]
“That’s right. How will you come back after this?
— Is it good to have this small fear or a small element of risk?
– yes. All these opponents I met, they were all risky. They were all big men. Everyone who is over 90 kg is big men, big moose. When I fight, they always have a puncher’s chance, but I always leave no stone unturned from them. That’s one thing I do. I’m always preparing, I’m always doing everything in my power to be successful. And I also look at it this way — if this guy beats me, then respect him, I’ll shake his hand. He must be a good fighter, because I am not so easy to beat, as I have proved over the years. So if I run into someone who can beat me, I’ll say, “You know what, buddy? Fantastic! Respect you, well done,” and I’ll take him with me for a beer. That’s all.
— We see all these exhibition fights and someone is ridiculed after them, but here your belts are at stake (actually not).
— If he beats me, he will become the lineal heavyweight champion. This is the man who beats the champion. These rules have been in place since the 18th century.
— Wow. Do you approach this fight against an MMA fighter in a different way? Not as against the one who came out of boxing?
— Not really, because they are all men who are trying to beat me, punch me in the face and the like. Fans always say about my opponents: “They all have a common goal in their head — it’s to win, and to be the first to take Tyson Fury’s virginity.”
But Nganna doesn’t seem to be interested at all. The former UFC champion is seriously approaching the upcoming fight and almost immediately after the official announcement began training. Moreover, Ngannou managed to drag into his team not just anyone, but one of the most famous boxers in the history of sports – Mike Tyson. Yes, Iron Mike has agreed to help Francis prepare for his first boxing match, and Mike really believes that Ngannou is capable of creating a sensation.
“Tyson Fury was knocked down after hitting a little guy at the start of his career. And Francis hits like… I don’t even know who to compare it with. He is a real athlete and moves quickly. Plus he needs to hit everything once or twice. Tyson has never been in the ring with someone who can hit so powerfully,” Mike Tyson said
The chance of the former UFC champion to win will be only in lucky punch, in the fact that Ngannu will be able to catch Fury by surprise and knock him out completely. But with every minute, and even more so with every round, the hope for such an outcome will fade along with the forces of the Frenchman. Francis has never been famous for endurance and very rarely went the entire distance, even in MMA, and in boxing this distance will be longer. And Fury knows how to hold a punch, so far no one has managed to beat Tyson in the professionals, although real monsters of the boxing world have entered the ring against him.
Plus, we should not forget that Francis did not fight for a year and a half, and with age, Nganna began to worry about injuries. Therefore, there are questions about the actual form of the Frenchman: is the ex-UFC champion ready for such a confrontation at all?
On paper, everything looks pretty obvious. Ngannou has almost no chance of defeating the Gypsy King, Fury has no problems disassembling the debutant for spare parts and winning an early victory. But this is the beauty of boxing, especially heavyweight fights: behind the word “practically” there is a knockout power that can turn any fight around. Well, I must say that Fury will have a great responsibility, he simply has no right to lose in such a fight. Unlike Ngannu, from whom no one expects anything.
