Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will take Cal Kestis to Koboh, a brand-new Star Wars planet filled with dangerous wildlife and links to the Clone Wars.
Fans have just gotten a fresh look at the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, along with a new planet named Koboh. 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order won over weary players with its gripping single-player narrative and engaging combat and exploration gameplay, leaving fans excited about the next chapter of Cal Kestis’ story. That next chapter will launch on April 28 in the form of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was announced last May and shown off in greater detail during The Game Awards 2022 show in December.
The previous Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailers highlighted its darker storyline and the new enemies and lightsaber styles Cal will be using against them. Players will battle Clone Wars-era battle droids and ruthless bounty hunters with such weapons as Cal’s double-bladed lightsaber upgrade from Fallen Order and a new, heavy-handed crossguard sword inspired by Kylo Ren. Despite Jedi: Survivor’s recent release date delay from its initial March 17 launch, new gameplay video is giving hungry fans an in-depth look at the game, the first of many to be expected throughout February.
Koboh Is The Untamed New Planet Of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
The video from IGN‘s YouTube channel features nine minutes of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor gameplay. This gameplay takes place on a brand-new planet named Koboh, which Cal and Fallen Order’s beloved BD-1 crash-land on early in the game after a secret mission goes wrong. Not much is yet known about this previously unseen Star Wars world, but Koboh is shown to be a dusty planet teaming with rugged hills, sparse trees and other plant life, and what appear to be the ruins of an abandoned civilization.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s Koboh Has Ties To The Clone Wars
Said civilization may have had some connection to the Star Wars prequel films, as Cal comes across several of Jedi: Survivor‘s Clone Wars-era Battle Droids while exploring Koboh. Early in the recent Jedi: Survivor gameplay footage, Cal discovers the wreckage of a Separatist Lucrehulk-class battleship off in the distance. Later on, Cal sees Stormtrooper armor strung up as a warning of some kind, suggesting that the Empire was also on Koboh at some point. At the present time, Koboh seems to be deserted, save for the aforementioned squads of Battle Droids, the electro-staff-wielding mercenaries controlling them, and the corpses of those unfortunate enough to get in their way.
These aren’t the only threats Cal and BD-1 will face on Koboh, as the latest Jedi: Survivor trailer also shows the pair fending off various hostile wildlife in this dangerous new world. This includes hulking amphibious beasts that throw massive rocks at the player and smaller frog-like creatures called Gorger. Eagle-eyed players can also spot more of the cute Bogling from Fallen Order scurrying within Koboh’s ruins. Areas of the map are given names like Hunter’s Quarry, adding more proof that Koboh is untamed despite the remains of civilization present.
Just like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order before it, Jedi: Survivor will allow players to explore new locations in the ever-growing Galaxy Far, Far, Away and discover ancient secrets hidden within them. The wild planet of Koboh is one such location, and fans will get to see more of this exciting and dangerous new planet when Star Wars Jedi: Survivor finally launches across all current platforms in April.
