IND vs AFG: Why Are Indian Players Wearing Black Armbands | Rohit Sharma | Virat Kohli | T20 WC 2024

The Indian Cricket Team paid tribute to the late David Johnson by wearing black armbands during their Super 8 game against Afghanistan. The former fast bowler, who passed away after a tragic fall from his balcony in Bengaluru on June 20th, played 2 Tests for India in 1996, taking 3 wickets. Notably, players, including Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, wore the armbands during the national anthem and while opening the batting after India elected to bat first. BCCI secretary Jay Shah also expressed his heartfelt condolences on social media, highlighting the cricket community’s deep loss. David Johnson’s contributions to Indian cricket, particularly during his tenure as a fast bowler, will be remembered fondly.
