How to Catch (& Evolve) Finneon

After Trainers find and catch Finneon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they can evolve the Wing Fish Pokémon by having it reach a specific level.
While Magikarp doubtless takes the crown as the most popular Fish pocket monster, there might be many fans of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet who like the cuter Wing Fish Pokémon, Finneon. Finneon is a Water-type pocket monster that evolves into Finneon after reaching a certain level milestone. Unfortunately, neither Finneon nor Finneon is an optimal combatant for Trainer Battles or Tera Raids, but catching or defeating these Pokémon can yield Finneon Scales. Finneon Scales are a resource used for crafting useful TMs, including TM123 Surf and TM142 Hydro Pump. Accordingly, knowing where to find, catch, and potentially farm Finneon might be helpful for some Trainers.
Since Finneon is a Wing Fish Pokémon that lives in the water, Trainers are recommended to unlock the Swim ability for their Mount by defeating the Open Sky Titan: Bombirdier. Once players can traverse across water, they are all set to begin their search for this common Water-type pocket monster. Finneon prefers the waters of the ocean compared to lakes or rivers. Therefore, Trainers can easily find this Wing Fish Pokémon by exploring the western coasts of the North Paldean Sea and West Paldean Sea.
Catching and Evolving Finneon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
If players swim by the coastline between Porto Marinada and the ocean cliffs west of Alfornada, they will eventually encounter a Wild Finneon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Finneon is generally easy to catch with a Quick Ball or even a normal Poké Ball. However, if this Wing Fish Pokémon requires some “persuasion” to get into the Trainers’ Balls, using Grass- and Electric-type attacks in Scarlet and Violet will ensure smooth cooperation with the pocket monster.
After catching Finneon, Trainers can evolve it into Lumineon after the Pokémon reaches Level 31 in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Suppose players catch a Finneon that is higher than Level 31. In that case, the fish will evolve the next time it levels, whether through battling or eating EXP Candy.
As noted above, catching or causing Finneon to faint can yield Finneon Scales, which can be used to craft Surf and Hydro Pump in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. To unlock the recipes for these TMs, players must find them in the open world of Paldea. According to Game8, Surf can be acquired by looting the Poké Ball node by two vending machines on the southern side of Levincia. For Hydro Pump, Trainers must defeat Trainers in the Casseroya Lake region, after which they will unlock the TM recipe as a reward from the League Rep at the Casseroya Watchtower No. 2.
