How to Catch (& Evolve) Applin in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Applin Evolution Family in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

After catching Applin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers can evolve it into its two evolution forms by giving the Pokémon one of two Apples.

Similar to Ralts or Snorunt, Applin is a Grass- and Dragon-type Apple Core Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that possess two possible evolution forms: Flapple and Appletun. While both of these pocket monsters have the same dual-elemental characteristic, they do not share the same IVs. For instance, Flapple has notably higher Speed and Attack than its evolved counterpart, while Appletun possesses superior HP. Still, the total stat values are the same, and which evolution Trainers prefer to use in combat will depend on situational circumstances and preference. Nonetheless, before players can consider which Applin evolution they want, they must first know how to find and catch the Apple Core Pokémon.

Applin’s habitat location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is composed of multiple zones in Paldea. Trainers can find this small Grass- and Dragon-type pocket monster in parts of the East Province, South Province, West Province, and even North Province. However, many members of the Scarlet and Violet community will likely agree that a choice location to find this Apple Core Pokémon would be the Tagtree Thicket, a forest directly north of Zapapico. The reason is that the number of trees is plentiful.

Applin Wild Encounter and Map Location in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

As one would expect of an apple-like pocket monster, Applin prefers living on the branches of trees in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The only way to get Applin down from its nest is by using the Dash ability acquired by defeating the Stony Cliff Titan: Klawf. Once fallen, catching the Apple Core Pokémon should be easy.

If the fruit-like creature needs some forceful assistance to enter one’s Poké Ball, Ice-type attacks are the most effective, while Poison-, Flying-, Bug-, Dragon-, and Fairy-type Moves are also sufficient. Those still struggling to find Applin can eat a Great Avocado Sandwich, Great Cheese Sandwich, or Great Klawf Claw Sandwich to bolster their encounter rate.

Next, to evolve Applin into Flapple or Appletun in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, YouTuber Trainers must procure two specific evolution items: the Tart Apple and Sweet Apple. Both of these apples are sold at the Delibird Presents Branches in every major city. However, they only become available once Trainers have acquired three Paldean Gym Badges.

Once this feat has been achieved, the Tart Apple and Sweet Apple can be purchased for ₽2,200 each. According to YouTuber Quick Tips, giving Applin a Tart Apple will cause it to evolve into Flapple. Conversely, the Apple Core Pokémon will become Appletun when given a Sweet Apple in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
