England fans attack group of Serbia supporters, Objects thrown before 200 German riot police arrive.
A rampaging group of English hooligans have attacked a bar where Serbia supporters were drinking before the Serbia v England game at Euro 2024.
Shortly after 3.30pm local time, tens of Serbs standing outside the Aleppo bar on Arminstraße in central Gelsenkirchen were targeted with projectiles.
According to eyewitnesses, “everything you can imagine” was thrown at the Serbia supporters by the English hooligans before the arrival of 200 German riot police.
One man, said to be from Birmingham, was left with heavy wounds to his head as he was caught up in the fighting but refused to provide his name to officers on the scene.
He was seen receiving medical attention including heavy bandaging to the head. The English fans fled the scene.

Sources at the scene said a group of yobs appeared to have started chaos in a restaurant near the venue city of Gelsenkirchen five hours before kick-off.

A cop said: “The English turned up and we saw everything being thrown – chairs, tables, glasses – you name it.
“Serbs hit back and chased the group down the street and one was caught.
“He’s a lad from Birmingham who ended up with a nasty wound to the back of his head.

The Three Lions will get their Euro 2024 campaign underway on Sunday evening at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen. However, hours before Gareth Southgate’s side kick off, footage has emerged on social media of blood-covered England fans.
One video, that was shared on X, showed England fans clashing with Serbian supporters outside of a shop. German police can then be seen moving in – as they quickly break apart the scuffle.
Another video showed plastic chairs, glass bottles and tables being thrown between the two sets of fans on a side street just away from the main square.
In a third video, fans could be seen running away from the scene – as the sounds of smashing glass bottles could be heard. While a scary image emerged of an English fan with blood pouring down his face with more cuts to his arm and midrift.
England fans had only be allowed to buy low-alcohol beer at their opening match with Sunday after the fixture was identified as “high risk” by German authorities.
The full-strength Bitburger Premium lager (4.8%) usually served inside the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen has been replaced by a 2.5% alternative as they try to crack down on any incidents near or around the stadium.
As well as that, more than 1,000 police officers have been deployed in a major security operation.

Alles, was nicht fest verankert im Boden war, flog durch die Luft, insbesondere Stühle. Glasscheiben gingen zu Bruch.
