Best Kingambit Build for Tera Raids

Of all the newly introduced Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet, Kingambit is certainly one of the strongest, making it a great Pokémon to tackle Tera Raids.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet introduced Kingambit, a Steel- and Dark-type with some of the most impressive stats in the world of Pokémon. Unsurprisingly, Kingambit tackles Tera Raids with no problem, given its stats, abilities, and move pool. While the Pokémon is exceedingly difficult to obtain, its viability in competitive play and Tera Raid Events makes it worth the trouble.
With an incredible base Attack stat of 135, Kingambit is one of the most powerful Steel-type Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet. Next to other popular Steel-types like Lucario and Perrserker, Kingambit is easily the hardest hitter, making it one of the best Pokémon trainers can use to take on Tera Raids. Because Kingambit is an exceptional physical attacker, its best build should maximize its offensive capabilities. While it functions exceptionally well with a Steel Tera Type, its move pool is slightly better suited for a Dark Tera-type build.
Kingambit’s Best Ability
According to YouTuber Osirus, Kingambit’s signature ability Supreme Overlord is highly beneficial in competitive battles and served Scarlet & Violet’s Top Champion, Geeta, well. However, it does not function at its best in Tera Raids. This is because the ability boosts Kingambit’s Attack and Special Attack stats for each of its fallen teammates, and raids run the most smoothly when each team member survives the battle.
Instead, trainers should be sure that their Kingambit has the Defiant ability, which raises the Pokémon’s Attack stat each time one of its stats are lowered. In addition, because Terastalized monsters often spam status moves during raids, Kingambit’s Defiant ability serves as a free offensive boost.
Kingambit’s Best Nature and EV Spread
Kingambit’s EVs should be spread with 252 points in both HP and Attack, with the remaining 4 points in Defense.
Much like Garchomp’s Tera Raid build in Scarlet & Violet, Kingambit should have an Adamant nature to boost its Attack stat while lowering its less necessary Special Attack stat. However, the Steel- and Dark-type should ideally have perfect IVs and reach Level 100 to deal the most damage in 5-star raids and above.
Kingambit’s Best Moveset
Best Moveset for Kingambit
- Swords Dance
- Iron Defense
- Kowtow Cleave
- Sucker Punch
For players just getting started in Scarlet & Violet’s Tera Raids, Kingambit will make a fantastic partner with a moveset that is simple but highly effective. Equipped with Swords Dance, Iron Defense, Kowtow Cleave, and Sucker Punch, Kingambit can reliably set up and hit hard. While the above moveset is optimized to suit a Dark Tera-type build, trainers may also opt out Sucker Punch for one of Kingambit’s strong Steel-type attacks like Iron Head to increase their type coverage. In any case, it has an excellent move pool that can adjust Kingambit’s moveset depending on the kinds of raids players take.
Kingambit’s Best Battle Strategy
Trainers can obtain the Shell Bell in Scarlet & Violet, which is an excellent item for Kingambit to hold during battle as it functionally restores health to its holder each time the Pokémon deals damage to an opponent. Other held items like Leftovers and the Muscle Band would also benefit Kingambit. With the help of the Leftovers item, Kingambit can gain staying power while setting up with moves like Iron Defense and Swords Dance. In contrast, the Muscle Band will allow it to deal more damage with Sucker Punch and Kowtow Cleave, giving trainers several excellent strategies to tackle Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
